1 Introduction
The physical simulation of the atmospheric boundary layer with a water
channel is used to study air pollution. The diffusion depends on the wind
velocity, the atmospheric stability and the roughness of the soil. The
experimental simulations carried out at Meteo-France by creating the
atmospheric boundary layer at a laboratory scale allows the study of the
pollutant diffusion released in stable and refounded conditions.
The flow visualizations with a laser sheet permit the total view of the
phenomena and these characteristic scales. In diffusion, it is very important to
measure instantaneous concentration inside the plume in order to calculate the
mean and extrema fields. A new technical method based on the PLIF and
image processing provides an unintrusive
