Abstract
Continuous hourly measurements of volatile hydrocarbons (HC) from C] to Cg
including isoprene have been performed at two sites in Lille, northern France,
since May 1997. The data have been analysed on a site-by-site and HC-by-HC
basis by constructing scatter plots against acetylene, a classic vehicle exhaust
tracer. A number of important sources of HC have clearly been identified
including motor vehicle exhaust, evaporative emissions from vehicles or
industrial sources related to the use of solvent and biogenic source through
isoprene emissions. Wintertime regression equations together with selected
exhaust gases tracers were used to estimate the non-vehicle exhaust fractions of
