Abstract
In the context of the new European norms relative to particles in the underground, Paris Transport Authority is concerned about new requirements on this domain: the measures in the underground show that the future values are above to the future limits. To better understand the dispersion of the particles due to the movements of the trains, a new approach by an hydraulic scale model (scale 1/80) is used.
The scale model represents about 2000 meters of an underground line constituted by four stations and, one mechanical fan between each station. The cinematic of the trains is similar to the real displacement of the trains (acceleration, speed, time of stop).
Particles are injected in the first tunnel before the first station and one train is represented. The aim is to weigh 24 hours later the deposited particles in each section of the scale model. The results show the importance of the ventilation to reduce the dispersion of the particles. About 60% of the total number of particles are extracted thanks to the ventilation. 40% of the particles are deposited in the first station: the dispersion of the particles is limited at two stations.
A video film has been realised with the aim to better understand the particles movements in the underground.
