A Subcooled Boiling Experimental Application For Finned Surfaces Cooling

Abstract
In the present paper, some tests have been described in order to study the subcooled boiling phenomenon and determine the average heat transfer coefficient. The problem deals with a particular kind of subcooled boiling able to augment heat exchange between a non isothermal finned surface and a refrigerant fluid flowing on it. The analysis has been focused on Biot number and on the pulsatile nature of the phenomenon. The experimental tests prove to be in accordance with the experimental data obtained by other authors and have shown the existence of a correlation linking together the temperature trend of the coolant inside the cavities between the fins and the periodic succession of events characterising such phenomenology. A numerical and computational definition of the problem, aimed at extending final results, is now a great challenge to be tried, especially when high thermal fluxes have to be removed in the context of a very quick phenomenological dynamism.
