Study Of Couette Flow Of Magnetizable Suspensions In A Magnetic Field With Consideration For The Magnetic Forces Acting On The Particles Near The Walls

Abstract
A flow of a two-phase magnetizable suspension (the paramagnetic particles in a magnetic fluid) in a uniform magnetic field is investigated. The effects of a structurization of the paramagnetic particles in a magnetic field and the magnetic forces acting on the particles near the walls are taken into account. It is shown that for the suspensions of the paramagnetic particles in a magnetic fluid a yield stress is absent because some magnetic forces act on the particles near the walls. The magnetic forces are calculated analytically and it is shown that the magnetic forces are the repulsive forces. An effective viscosity before and after the clusters of the particles breaks down is calculated. Such suspensions (without a yield stress and with a viscosity that depends on a magnetic field) may be applied to locomotion systems in robotics.
