Abstract

During cooperative, multi-agent, design problem-solving, disagreements may arise among the expert agents. These differences are resolved by Negotia- tion. This paper describes the design and implementation of an approach to handle negotiation between expert agents. 1 Introduction This paper is about negotiation in design expert systems and presents the implementation of a demonstration system. The Concurrent Engineering (CE) system, 13D [Victor et al, 1993], was extended by allowing conflicts among the various expert agents. The extended system is called the I3D + System. The major claim to this work is that we are using a practical working concurrent engineering support system in a real domain. 1.1 Negotiation In concurrent design, where multiple expert agents interact, c
