Abstract
It is shown that reasonable predictions of fatigue crack growth can be obtained using damage mechanics concepts. A model that considers the growth of a main crack as a sequence of failures of sub-elements along the crack path is used to perform computer simulations of crack propagation in centre notched specimens.
