Solution Of An Inverse Stokes Problem Using
Interior Data

Abstract
In this paper we investigate the solution of the Stokes equations in two di-
mensions with an unspecified surface fluid velocity, or one of its components,
over a part of its boundary by introducing extra interior pressure measure-
ments. It has been shown that the boundary element method (BEM), com-
bined with the Tikhonov regularization procedure with the choice of the
regularization parameter based on the L-curve criterion, provides a stable
numerical solution of the Stokes problem which converges to the exact so-
lution as the amount of error in the interior data decreases.
1 Introduction
The non-dimensional approximate Stokes equations which govern the steady
state flow of fluids at very low Reynolds number are given by
