Abstract
The boundary element method comprises three distinct phases: set-up, equation
solution and recovery of internal values. All three phases are suitable for domain
decomposition, there being an inherent parallelism in the method which offers a
straightforward data decomposition, ideally suited for an SPMD environment.
Also, there are two approaches to the set-up phase viz collocation and Galerkin.
Both approaches are considered and implementations on a PC cluster, transputer
network and on an nCUBE sixty-four processor hypercube are described and
compared.

The boundary element method has established itself as a numerical technique for
the solution of problems in applied science and engineering, alongside the finite
difference and finite element methods. However, it is probably still far less well-
known probably due to it
