Abstract

The present work deals with an experimental and numerical study of the tur- bulent flow around a submerged body of revolution with a propeller in operation. The numerical solution of the corresponding Reynolds equations is based on the finite volume approach in connection with the k - 5 turbulence model. Two differ- ent techniques are used to solve the Reynolds equations numerically. The calcu- lated profiles of the mean velocities and pressure coefficients are compared with the measurements for different propeller loading conditions. Also included is a comparison of experimental and numerical data for the case without p
