Abstract
An implicit finite difference solution is used to study the dynamic effects of tidal flows on
suspended load transport. The numerical method solves transformed forms of one-
dimensional equations for sediment concentrations over the water column in order to reduce
truncation errors. Applications are made to analytical and field situations and shown to yield
good results. Parametric simplification of model results combined with field data on
suspended load is used to suggest improvements to existing morphological 3D (Box) models
for prediction of seabed change due to tidal action.
