Abstract

A description of a two-dimensional finite element numerical model based on the modified elliptic mild slope equation, Kirby [7], for time-harmonic waves and weak currents, is presented herein. The inclusion of the ambient current terms follows the numerical scheme proposed by Kostense et al. [8], where the modified mild slope equation is solved in an iterative way, since the wave number direction k in computational domain is unknown, a priori. In order to illustrate the model capabilities to study
