Wear And Tensile Characteristics Of Rubber

Abstract
Recently the study on the mechanical strength of bamboo has developed rapidly and its effective characteristics have become a center of attractions.
The composite material which is filled up with bamboo fiber is in the study and development stage for practical application. In the present study, tensile and frictional wear characteristics of the rubber-bamboo fiber composite material were investigated. For this purpose, friction and tensile tests were carried out for the synthetic Chloroplane rubber including thin bamboo fibers. The effect of fiber content on the tensile properties were examined. And furthermore, the effects of sliding speed on wear-loss and coefficient of friction were discussed, and appearance of the worn surface were examined.
From the experimental results, the following conclusions were obtained.
1) Wear characteristics and tensile strength increase in a range that fiber content is less than 10%.
2) Wear-loss and coefficient of friction are comparative independent of sliding velocity.
