Dynamic Properties Of Steel Fiber Reinforced Mortar Under High-rates Of Loadings And Triaxial Stress States

Abstract
This study is to investigate the behavior of steel fiber reinforced high-strength mortar subjected to high strain-rates and triaxial stresses. The volume fraction of steel fibers (ranging from 0 to 4%), the confining pressure (ranging from 0 to 70 N/mm2) and the loading rate (ranging from 1.2x10-5 to 2.0x10’ 1/sec by strain rate) were chosen as test parameters. One hundred eighty cylindrical specimens (50x100mm), in which the mortar matrix had a compressive strength of about 140 N/mm2, were tested. From test results, the effects of these parameters on the failure mode and the maximum strength of steel fibre reinforced high-strength mortar were examined. Furthermore, the dynamic failure criterion for steel fiber reinforced high-strength mortar was proposed to predict the maximum strength under triaxial rapid compressive loadings. This criterion was derived from the dynamic criterion for high strength plain mortar by considering the additional confining pressure due to steel fibers.
