Experimental And Numerical Analysis Of An Impacted Thin Aluminium Plate

Abstract
The present investigation deals with a theological behaviour analysis of a thin aluminium plate during high speed loading (1-20 m/s). An experimental impact test must be peformed to describe the dynamic plastic deformation of the material. During impact, forces and time evolution of the displacements in the middle of the sheet are recorded using special measurement sensors. In order to understand the whole complexity of the process a numerical simulation using the commercial finite element code FORGE2) is realized. This simulation requires available constitutive equations as for example the Johnson-Cook law and accurate theological parameters values must be introduced. In order to identify these parameters, an inverse analysis principle is proposed, This method is based on the minimization of a least squares cost function using experimental measurements and the corresponding numerical values. The main advantage of this method is to take into account the whole complexity of the impact phenomenon and especially of the dynamic elasto-plastic deformation.
