Abstract
In this paper we propose a new scheme of direct freeform shape optimization on
polygonal meshes. The approach coilsists of three main ingredients: 1) surface
partition of polygonal meshes into different patches; 2) a new perturbation
scheme of mimicking B-spline deformation; 3) freeform shape optimization.
Numerical experiments indicate the effectiveness of the proposed approach,
compared to a conventional approach.
1 Introduction
A considerable amount of work in the area of shape optimization of structures
has been conducted in the past. From the perspective of geometric
representation, these approaches can be categorized as either CAD-based or
mesh-based. Finite element mesh is one of the most commonly-used data
