Abstract
This paper presents the results of cyclic bi-axial horizontal loading tests of the
reinforced concrete (RC) column models for bridge piers under a constant axial
force. The test parameter was the sub axial horizontal load intensity which was
not cyclic but constant. All the specimens failed in a flexural mode. The peak
strength of the cyclic load in the main horizontal axis decreased naturally as the
load intensity in the sub horizontal axis increased. The interaction obtained due
to bi-axial loading is discussed in comparison with existing design curves.
