The Analysis Of The Solutions Of The Underground
Water Softening In The Seashore Area Sinoe-Vadu

Abstract
With the purpose of using for agriculture a surface of about 8.000 ha in the
seashore area Sinoe-Vadu, the softening of the underground water is essential
among other land reclamation measures. The solutions of the underground
water softening were analysed by means of a mathematical model based on the
finite element method. The interface fresh water - salt water was determined
using Ghyben-Herzberg's concept.
1. Introduction
The seashore area Sinoe-Vadu has a surface of about 8.000 ha. It is located in
the South-East of Romania close to the cost of Black Sea, Fig.l. Except the
South side, it is surrounded by salt water sources namely: The Black Sea in the
