Abstract

The investigation of the interactive effects of chemicals on aquatic organisms has drawn a lot of attention during the last two decades. This is due to the fact that the biota of polluted waters are usually exposed to several pollutants simultaneously. There are several methods predicting the theoretically expected effect when two or more chemicals are applied together on an organism. Among others we mention the isobologram method and the method of "toxic units". The interactive effect is called additive, if the experimental results are not significantly different from the theoretically predicted ones,
