Abstract
Aquatic vascular plants, hydrophytes, are generally considered good indicators of radioactive
pollution, as they may accumulate radiocaesium to a great extent, but this accumulation may
be highly affected by the potassium concentration in freshwater.
The present paper concerns the experimental study of the influence of several potassium
concentrations in water on the radiocaesium accumulation by the hydrophyte Lemna minor.
Concentrations used varied from 1 mM to 1 pM of K\ Radiocaesium concentration factor
increases with decreasing K* concentration in water, for the range of 1 mM to 10 pM of Kaccording to the following equation:
