Abstract

The numerical modelling of the pollutant dispersion in water systems is presented considering both of fluid dynamics and potential bio-chemical reactions representing a reduction of the pollutant concentration. The dispersion of the constituents or pollutants based on convection and diffusion transport is considered. Boundary element method is employed to solve a non-steady diffusion-convection transport equation with a sink term as the consequence of the first order bio-chemical reactions between pollutants and other water constituents. A two dimensional pollutant dispersion in water system with constant velocity field is calculated as an example problem of the complex dispersion transport processes. 1 Introduction The dispersion of pollutant entering a
