Interpolating H&R Wave Overtopping

Abstract
Various expressions have been developed for predicting the mean rate at which
seawalls are overtopped by random waves. All of these expressions contain
empirical coefficients derived from experimental data. The values of the
coefficients are dependent on, amongst other parameters, the front slope of the
structure. However, data are usually collected in physical model studies on
seawalls with a limited range of front slopes (see, for example, Owen [1, 2]).
Thus, it is generally necessary to interpolate the values of these coefficients for
the purposes of design.
The H&R overtopping model [3] is the latest proposal for predicting mean
overtopping discharges. It is based more soundly than earlier models on a
physical understanding of the processes involved. It has also been shown to
