Dimensional Numerical Model For The
Determination Of Pore Pressure In A Seabed

Abstract
A new flexible three-dimensional numerical pore pressure model is developed
and used to assess the liquefaction potential at a field site susceptible to scour.
The model is tested against a more complex analytical solution and found to
give good results. The field test shows that partial saturation has a significant
effect on liquefaction potential and that failure depths are similar to erosion
depths reported at the site.
1 Introduction
Determination of pore pressure under wave conditions is an increasingly
important aspect of seabed stability analysis in offshore engineering.
Phenomena such as wave-induced liquefaction should be accounted for,
especially where enhanced wave conditions exist as in the vicinity of marine
