Abstract

The knowledge of effective elastic moduli of honeycomb cores used for sand- wich panels is essential for their design. "Smeared" honeycomb core pro- perties are especially required to predict the material behavior of sandwich constructions. Several analytical methods are used to compare theoretical predictions of the "smeared" honeycomb core values with experimental re- sults. The core parameters are determined by basic methods of mechanical testing of materials and calculated on the basis of theoretical civil engi- neering formulations.
