Abstract
The present work is confined to deal with laminar flow of incompressible
pseudoplastic fluid through a sudden expansion. An experimental study is
carried out to measure the re-establishment length, the velocity and the
pressure drop due to the enlargement. The basic equation governing this
problem is integrated by means of a finite volume scheme using a non
uniform staggered grid. The numerical results obtained are compared with
experimental results and the agreement is shown to be good.
1. Introduction
The problem of fluid flow through singularities, in particular through
expansion or contraction pipes, has received much attention in literature[l-
4]. It is largely due to its technical interests in many engineering processes.
