Abstract
In fretting fatigue, it is well known that the contact edge shifts inward because of
wear. The effect of this contact-edge shift on crack propagation is considered
here to accurately predict fretting fatigue. The stress intensity factor (KO) for
fretting fatigue cracking was calculated by using contact pressure and frictional
stress distributions. They were analyzed using the finite element method.
The S-N curves of fretting fatigue were predicted by using the relationship
between the calculated stress intensity factor range (AK-) and the crack
propagation rate (da/dN) obtained from CT specimens. Fretting fatigue tests
were conducted on Ni-Cr-Mo-V steel specimens. The S-N curves of our
experimental results were in good agree
