Stress Analysis Of Adhesive Bonded Tee Joints

Abstract
The stresses in adhesive bonded Tee joints, subjected to two linear and one bending
moment loads, have been analysed using finite element method. It was assumed
that the adhesive and adherends had linear elastic properties. The influences on the
stress distributions of the overlap length, adhesive thickness and the fillet of the
angle plate are investigated. It was found that experimental results were in good
agreement with those of the FE analysis.
Introduction
The technology of adhesive bonded joints is currently employed in many structural
components and machine elements to improve the joint performance. The possible
use of adhesive bonded joints in a new engineering design should always be
considered, due to light weight, stiff structure and possible economic benefits.
Adhesive bonding skills are still not widely applied in practice,
