Abstract
A method was developed in order to predict the time dependent temperature
distributions in a canon barrel during firing. The main goal of the work is to
develop and validify a model which delivers accurate results with minimal
effort to be used for parametric studies.
The model is made up of three main components: namely, a one-dimensional,
mviscid, non-steady, reacting real gas core How; a quasi-steady, axisymmet-
ric turbulent boundary layer; and the non-steady heat transfer in an axi-
symmetric tubular structure.
The mviscid core flow is assumed to be independent of the growth of the
boundary layer and the heat transfer to the walls. Distinct to the model
