Abstract
The paper is devoted to evaluate indices at the element level, to be applied
together with member-type models, in representing different damage stages
for nonstructural brick infills. Interstorey drift, stiffness-based indices and
response-based indices are correlated to the visible damage exhibited by the
filler walls of one-storey one-bay half-scale specimens, subjected to pseudo-
dynamic tests. Damage measures derived from both experimental results and
numerical simulations are presented. Finally, a modified stiffness-based
index reflects the visual damage to a satisfactory degree of accuracy.
