ABSTRACT
This paper presents some characteristics of a general conduction module
(Syrthes), to be used coupled with CFD codes N3S or ESTET, when handling
thermally coupled fluid-solid problems.
The paper will focus on numerical techniques used. Details will be given on
how periodicity and non isotropic cases are treated.
Finally, applications have been included to illustrate the ability of the module
to handle, at low cost, heat transfer problems.
INTRODUCTION
CFD codes have been developped and used for many years at EDF. ESTET
(see Gabillard [1]) relies on structured grids and N3S (see Chabard [2]) is using
finite elements technique. Initially theses codes were concerned only with the
fluid domain, but a need to take into account the heat phenomena in solid and
fluid simu
