ABSTRACT
A numerical study of the flow about and heat transfer rate from a
horizontal circular cylinder centrally mounted in square enclosure
containing water has been undertaken. The side walls of the enclosure
are heated to a uniform temperature that is higher than the temperature
of the cylinder surface which is also uniform. The bottom of the enclosure
is adiabatic and the surface is assumed to remain flat and be adiabatic.
The temperature of the cylinder surface is near the temperature at which
the density maximum occurs. It has been assumed that the flow is
two-dimensional and steady and that fluid properties are constant except
for the density change with temperature that gives rise to the buoyancy
