ABSTRACT
A numerical model for temperature field calculation
in the guiding rolls of the continuous casting
machine, based on the Finite Elements Method (FEM),
has been presented. Numerical simulation for two
types of rolls have been performed, under assumption
of different conditions for their cooling.
INTRODUCTION
Guiding rolls of continuous casting machine are in
permanent contact with a moving cast slab. The rolls
are loaded by this cast both mechanically and
thermally. After some time from the start-up of the
machine - the steady state of the heat conduction
occurs. The heat coming from the cast slab is
transferred via guiding roll to the environment (air
