ABSTRACT
This work describes development of numerical models based on finite element method
for the study of free convection and of flows stability in geological porous structures.
Some results are presented for a reference configuration: the sloped porous layer
bounded by impervious domains.
INTRODUCTION
By reason of its weak conditions of appearance the phenomenon of natural convection
in porous media are exceptionally missing in geological structures. Furthermore this
motion have tangible effects in geothermal areas, on the diffusion of pollutants in
underground or on the mineral diagenesis process. So by now many fundamental
researches have been undertaken in order to clarify this mechanism.
A quantitatively approach enjoins to take into account the complexity of geological
